Deputy PM Binh said that Vesak 2019 will take place in the next ten days, becoming the largest event of the international Buddism, the most important event of Viet Nam’s diplomacy and the Buddhist Sangha of Viet Nam. The selection of Viet Nam as the host of Vesak 2019 reflected the high confidence and appreciation of the International Buddhism for the Buddhist Sangha of Viet Nam.

Deputy PM Binh was convinced that successful organization of Vesak 2019 would help international friends to understand Viet Nam’s sound policies on religion and beliefs; promote the image of the country and people of Viet Nam; develop tourism and socio-economic development.

He tasked his inferiors to host the event in a respective, careful, solemn, practical, safe manner.

Ministries, agencies, localities were asked to seriously implement the PM’s directions stipulated in Document 02/TB-VPCP.

This will be the third time Viet Nam hosts the Vesak Celebrations, he said, adding that the previous events in 2008 and 2014, left lasting impressions on international friends.

The Vesak Celebrations and international conference are expected to welcome 10,000 participants, including dignitaries, scholars and researchers from 100 countries and territories worldwide.

They will together discuss global peace, stability, and the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on the Buddhist population./.
