VN pledges to use ADB loans effectively

VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung has pledged to use effectively loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for socio-economic development while allocating counterpart funds and quickening site clearance to disburse the financial sources.

PM Dung made that statement when receiving ADB President Takehiko Nakao in Ha Noi on September 18.

PM Dung expressed his gratitude to ADB for its capital provision and policy advice while affirming that Viet Nam attached importance to cooperation with the bank.

 To realize 6.2% growth rate in 2015 and 6.5% in the 2016-2020 period, Viet Nam has taken synchronized measures, in cluding ensuring macro-economy, controlling the inflation, and boosting institutional improvement. The country still needs further support from the international community, particularly ADB, PM Dung said.

ADB President Nakao said that he was impressed by Viet Nam’s socio-economic achievements and spoke highly of the country’s solutions on curbing the inflation, innovating State-owned enterprises, recovering the growth rate and stabilizing the macro-economy.

He said that Viet Nam should continue to improve its policies, attract further foreign direct investment, encourage enterprises’ development and provide financial support to private and small- and medium-sized companies.

Nakao also suggested that Viet Nam should continue to quicken the disbursement of ADB’s capital and affirmed the bank’s support to the country during the development process.
