VN most vulnerable to climate change
VGP – Viet Nam was the seventh country mostly suffering from climate change with 392 deaths and economic losses of over 1% of GDP on an annual average, from natural disasters.

In 2015 only, severe hot weather with record high temperatures (in 60 years) occurred in the North and South regions, scorching 190,000 hectares of farming land and killing 44,000 cattle and poultry.
Meanwhile, in some localities like Quang Ninh, the latest historic heavy rain triggered economic damage of around VND 2.7 trillion, caused 17 deaths, and submerged thousands of houses and hectares of paddy.
In addition, landslides, salination, and water shortage happened frequently.
Viet Nam was one of the five countries mostly affected by climate change and sea level rise, reiterated Mr. Hoai.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development had issued an action plan in response to climate change with a view to ensuring national food security, and protecting the environment and means of subsistence for people./.
