The information was announced at a working session between the National Assembly Standing Committee's Supervisory Delegation and the Government to review the implementation of policies and laws on the management and utilization of foreign loans from 2011-2016.

The above figure reflected the effort and pro-activeness of Viet Nam in seeking and mobilizing foreign sources in order to facilitate national development, said Deputy PM, FM Minh.

He noted with pleasure that the donors have expressed their appreciation for Viet Nam’s effective use of their loans, which is the main reason for them to continue granting ODA and preferential loans to Viet Nam.

On future orientations, the Deputy PM stressed the need for proper adjustments in the directions of mobilizing and utilizing foreign loans in order to ensure both efficient use and the repayment capability.

According to a Government report presented by the Minister of Planning and Investment, Nguyen Chi Dung, at the working session, ODA and preferential loans have significantly contributed to promoting socio-economic development, improving infrastructure system, ensuring social welfare.

Many constructions and projects funded by ODA loans have successfully been put into operation, bringing about practical benefits to local people.

Foreign loans have also helped boost the transfer of technology and management experience from developed countries./.
