The seminar sought to assess operation and situations of the UN Security Council in the time ahead, exchange information and experience of the role of the UN Security Council in preventing disputes and addressing consequences and re-establishing post-conflicts, thus proposing suitable recommendations help Viet Nam prepare for the nomination process and taking charge as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 phase.

The event attracted the participation of around 100 delegates who are representatives of embassies and international organizations in Ha Noi, agencies under the MoFA and other relevant ministries and agencies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of MoFA Le Hoai Trung affirmed Viet Nam’s practical contributions during its tenure as the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2008-2009 period.

Viet Nam’s second nomination has manifested the nation’s desire to continue upholding its role as an active member and trusted and responsible partner in the international community.

It has shown the active and responsible multi-lateral diplomatic policy of the country at international forums and organizations, heading to establish a peaceful and sustainable environment for the joint benefits of all the nations.
