VN looks to beef up education cooperation with Japan

VGP – Japan currently has over 1,900 projects in Viet Nam with total investment capital of nearly US$32 billion, putting high pressure on the Southeast Asian country’s education system.

Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan made the statement while delivering his opening remarks at the special education cooperation forum held in Japan on Friday.

He said that the Government of Viet Nam decided to incorporate Japanese into curriculum of high schools, cooperate with Japan to upgrade some universities and vocational training establishments in Viet Nam.

Viet Nam also plans to open Japan-funded universities in a bid to raise its quality of the workforce. Both sides also agreed to cooperate in space research, he added.

On the same day, Deputy PM Nhan witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperative document on enhancing Japanese language teaching in Viet Nam, between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and Japanese Foreign Ministry./.
