VN introduces a large-scale tourist promoting program

VGP – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) today announced a special tourist program called “Vietnamese Impression”. This is the ever largest discount offer, supported by 37 international travel agencies, 61 big hotels, three transporters, 14 shops, and 99 special tours.

Việt Nam expects to welcome 4.5 million international visitors and 22 million turns of domestic tourists in 2009

Accordingly, hotels and services providers (transport, tour guide, shopping, catering) pledged to offer a 30-50% discount.

The same discount rate will be applied by the transporters, including the national flag carrier (Vietnam Airlines).

In March 2009, the second phase of the program will be launched, with the participation of more service suppliers.

With the program, the tourism sector expects to welcome 4.5 million international visitors and 22 million turns of domestic tourists in 2009.

MSCT Deputy Minister Trần Chiến Thắng stated that the program is an urgent response to the global economic recession, so as to stimulate the influx of international visitors and promote domestic tourism.

The National Administration of Tourism is surveying and designing new tourist products; conducting promotion activities in some important markets as ASEAN, China and Northeast Asia.
