VN international travel mart opens
VGP – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam spoke highly of the strong and positive growth momentum towards sustainability of Vietnamese and regional tourism over recent years, at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Viet Nam International Travel Mart (VITM) in Ha Noi on March 29.

He attributed aforementioned achievements to the efforts made by the business community and local governments in removing difficulties for businesses and creating a safe and friendly tourism environment.
Mentioning the theme “Online travel” of the VITM 2018, Deputy PM Dam urged the effective utilization of advantages of information technology, aiming to create linkages between all strata, the Government, organizations, businesses and people, thus creating a foundation for sustainable tourism development.
Addressing the event, Alejandro Montalban Carrasco, head of the cooperation and development department of the EU delegation in Viet Nam, stated that the EU is supporting the Viet Nam Tourism Association to enhance capabilities for Vietnamese tour guides in implementing the Tourism Law on tour guides, aiming to promote sustainable and responsible tourism in Viet Nam.

He highlighted the power of tourism in building peace, strengthen mutual understanding, and contributing significantly to Viet Nam’s socio-economic development.
The VITM 2018 is taking place from March 29 to April 1, with the participation of more than 670 travel agencies, restaurants, tourism service providers, and tourism promotion centers from 21 countries and territories, and 45 Vietnamese cities and provinces. The theme “Online travel – Vietnamese tourism towards Industry 4.0” of this year’s event reflects the strong response of the local tourism industry to the goal of becoming one of the industries with the rapid and successful application of information technology in their operations.

The mart is a big forum of the tourism industry with dozens of conferences, seminars, talks, and press conferences, offering a platform for travel businesses and experts to discuss and recommend the issues related to policies and profession of the tourism industry.
As part of the VITM 2018, travel agencies and airlines will launch a tourism stimulus program with dozens of thousands of discounted tours and low-fare flight tickets, together with many other preferential tourism services.
