VN hosts first ASEAN workshop on nanotechnology
VGP - Nearly 200 Vietnamese and 100 foreign scientists from 24 countries and territories, including nine of ten ASEAN member-states, presented themselves at an ongoing international workshop on advanced materials science and nanotechnology opened in Nha Trang city of Khánh Hòa province on September 16.

During the 4-day workshop, participants have discussed and introduced their new researches on advanced materials for electronics and photonics, nanostructured materials and devices, nanotechnology in life, and environmental technology.
Round-table discussions have been opened, focusing on cooperation in advanced materials science and nanotechnology between ASEAN and members of the Asia-Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics as well as other developed countries in the world.
Workshop Chairman Prof. Nguyễn Văn Hiệu said that the event aims at promoting the research and application of materials science and nanotechnology in ASEAN members. He added that it also helps raise awareness of nanotechnology in Việt Nam and seek solutions for urgent scientific issues such as developing nano-structured materials to deal with environmental pollution, and nano-therapy.
The event will be held biennially in ASEAN member countries.
