Speaking to participants of the 4th GAVI Partners’ Meeting on Wednesday evening in Hà Nội, Deputy PM Nguyễn Thiện Nhân noted that, in recent years, the healthcare sector of Việt Nam has gained considerable achievements.

Most of people have been able to access to fundamental healthcare services; preventive medical activities popularized; new epidemics controlled, and mother and children’s health improved.

The Vietnamese Deputy PM attributed these results to active and effective assistance of the international community, including GAVI.

He hoped that, through the meeting, partners and members of GAVI will propose new initiatives, cooperation programs and common solutions for developing countries, while sharing their experience of public healthcare.

Việt Nam wishes to receive greater help from GAVI in order to realize its socio-economic development goals in general and better its people’s health in particular, said Mr. Nhân.

The GAVI Partners’ Meeting draws 500 delegates from 70 countries and territories, lasting on two days, November 19 and 20.

Since 2002, GAVI has assisted Việt Nam to universalize immunization and consolidate grassroots healthcare system. Its total aid for the country has reached US $57 million.
