VN goes 55 days without new COVID-19 community infection

VGP – Viet Nam has gone 55 consecutive days without any new COVID-19 infection case in the community found, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on June 10.

June 10, 2020 10:33 AM GMT+7

As of 6:10 am on June 10, as many as 332 COVID-19 infection cases were recorded in the nation, including 192 imported cases who were immediately quarantined upon arrival.

Of the total, 316 have been cleared of the virus, accounting for 95.2%. 49 of the 50 foreigners with COVID-19 have been cleared of the virus and recovered.

Up to 8,182 people are under quarantine due to having been in close contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from foreign countries and territories, including 151 at hospitals, 8,087 at concentrated quarantine establishments and 902 places of residence.

Currently, 15 patients have been treated at medical facilities with stable health, of whom three were tested negative for the virus for the first time, three tested negative for the second time and above and 11 tested positive.

Viet Nam’s most critically ill Covid-19 patient has made remarkable recovery progress.

The 43-year-old British pilot, being treated at Ho Chi Minh City’s Cho Ray Hospital, was able to follow doctors’ orders, press the call buttons by his bed, swing his legs, and write on his own.

He only recently regained consciousness after over two months in a coma.

He was on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) from April 6 to June 3.

The patient has now spent 84 days in treatment.
