VN gives highest priority to relations with Laos

VGP – Viet Nam always attaches importance and places highest priority to consolidation and enhancement of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the above remarks on Monday at talks with Lao counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith who is on a visit to Viet Nam from October 2-6.

The two PMs reviewed the implementation of joint trade and investment projects and signed cooperative agreements between the two countries.

They agreed to continue fostering and diversifying the exchange of high-level delegations, coordinate in realizing the agreements reached at the 39th meeting of the Inter-governmental Committee held in February this year and during the Laos visits of senior Vietnamese leaders.

Both sides agreed to focus on implementing key projects like the Laos National Assembly building and Ha Noi-Vientiane Expressway as well as other energy and transport connectivity projects.

The two sides discussed measures to step up the bilateral trade exchanges, Vietnamese businesses’ investment in Laos and cooperation in such fields like defense and security, education and training among others.

The two leaders also agreed to work together to well organize activities marking the Viet Nam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year launched in Vientiane last April.

At the talks, PM Thongloun Sisoulith announced that Party General Secretary and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith will pay an official visit to Viet Nam at the end of this year to attend the closing ceremony of the Viet Nam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year./.
