VN eyes stronger cooperation with southwestern China

VGP – Permanent Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng has led a high-ranking governmental delegation to attend the 6th ASEAN-China Expo in the Chinese city of Nanjing and visit the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on October 19-24.

The tour to the southwestern China of the Vietnamese Permanent Deputy PM aims to boost up bilateral ties in the areas of economics, trade, investment, transport, and tourism between Việt Nam and China in general as well as between Việt Nam and Guangxi and other southwestern Chinese provinces in particular. 

Mr. Hùng plans to attend the opening ceremony of the 6th ASEAN-China Expo, China-ASEAN Business Investment Summit (CABIS), roundtables between the Vietnamese Government and the business communities of Việt Nam and China, and meet with Chinese leaders.  

This year, Việt Nam adopts the motto “Việt Nam – Open opportunities for trade and investment” to introduce its goods and services in such fields as agricultural products, processing food, furniture, garments and textiles, tourism.

Accompanying Permanent Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng is a delegation of 110 enterprises from 24 provinces and cities of Việt Nam, the biggest mission among ten ASEAN member countries.

It was reported that Vietnamese enterprises inked US $350-million contracts at the 5th ASEAN-China Expo in 2008. Especially, around 200,000 transactions, worth of around US $25 million, were conducted at Việt Nam’s stalls.
