VN expects to deepen ties with Mexico

VGP – The Vietnamese Government expects to strengthen friendship and cooperation in various fields with Mexico.

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh affirmed that during his reception for Chairman of the Mexican Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee for Asia Pacific, Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo in Ha Noi on August 19.

On behalf of high-ranking leaders of Viet Nam, Deputy PM Minh asked Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo to convey the invitation to Mexican President Peña Nieto to pay an official visit to Viet Nam to beef up the bilateral ties.

Deputy PM Minh suggested that both countries should boost the exchange of delegations at all levels; maintain effective operation of the political consultation mechanisms between the two Foreign Ministries; and sign an agreement to set up a joint committee for economic, trade and investment cooperation.

He also asked the Mexican Congress to encourage their businesses to invest in Viet Nam in the context that the two countries are engaging in Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks, soon recognize Viet Nam’s market economy status.

Deputy PM, FM Minh took the occasion to extend sincere thanks to Mexico for their valuable support for Viet Nam during the past struggle for national reunification and the current development cause.

Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo congratulated on Viet Nam’s all-round achievements over the past years and highly valued the Southeast Asian country’s position and prestige in the international arena.

He affirmed that his country regards Viet Nam as a good friend and partner in East Asia.

For multilateral aspect, both sides agreed to continue fostering consultation and coordination, supporting each other at international organizations and multilateral forums for mutual benefits and for peace, stability, cooperation and development on regional and global scales./.
