The campaign will encourage people to give a priority to made-in-Việt Nam medicines which are in good quality and at reasonable prices.

The MoH will be responsible for developing public-private partnership on assessing bio-equivalence and bio-availability of domestic medicines and applying good pharmacy practice (GPP).

It is reported that with around 100 domestic medicine producers meeting good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards, Việt Nam is capable of providing a half of essential medicines for the community at lower prices (a half or one third of the prices of imported medicines).

Through the campaign, the Government hopes to alter Vietnamese customers’ preference of imported medicines and encourage doctors to prescribe domestic medicines instead of imported ones./.
