VN demands China withdraw military equipment from Hoang Sa

VGP - Viet Nam demands China immediately stop all wrong activities and withdraw military facilities from Viet Nam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang at a press briefing on Thursday.

June 14, 2018 6:59 PM GMT+7

The above statement followed media reports saying China has deployed missiles to Phu Lam island which forms part of the Hoang Sa archipelago of Viet Nam.

China’s deployment of missiles to the island is serious violation of Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago, intensifies tension and threatens peace and stability in the region as well as security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, Hang said.

Viet Nam has sufficient legal foundations and historical evidence to prove its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes in accordance with international law, Hang asserted.

All activities that are carried out in the two archipelagoes without Viet Nam’s permission are absolutely illegal and invalid./.
