VN contributes to resolving regional and global challenges

VGP – Viet Nam is determined to pursuing the diplomatic guidelines of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, international integration, and positive engagement in settling regional and global challenges.

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh, Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai, ministery and sector leaders, Ambassadors, chief representatives of diplomatic corps and international organizations took part in the event. 

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Minh highlighted the memorable moments and new records in socio-economic development and diplomacy. 

Regarding economy, GDP growth rate reached 6.81%; FDI disbursement hit US$ 17.5 billion; export turnover was over US$ 213 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 21.1%. The number of foreign visitors touched 13 million. These positive figures showed abundant opportunities and solid confidence in the Vietnamese economy. 

2017 was regarded as one of the most successful years in Viet Nam’s diplomatic affairs. Viet Nam exchanged 53 high-ranking delegations with friends and partners. The friendship and comprehensive ties between Viet Nam and foreign countries were consolidated in a more practical manner. 

Especially, the 2017 Viet Nam APEC was successful, highlighting Viet Nam’s multilateral diplomatic hallmarks, contributing to maintaining and vitalizing regional integration and linkages. 

On the occasion of ASEAN’s 50th founding anniversary, Viet Nam made positive contribution to the building process of the ASEAN Community. 

Deputy PM Minh highlighted the effective and valuable support from foreign countries and the international community. 

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Deputy PM Minh spoke highly of the positive contribution of Ambassadors and chief representatives of international organizations to promoting the friendly and cooperative relations between Viet Nam and other countries. 

The Deputy PM took the occasion to seek their support for Viet Nam to cement and deepen international relations such as running for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council in the 2020-2021 period; Chair of ASEAN in 2020, and fulfillment of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

On behalf of local leaders, Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai took the occasion to thank the Ambassadors and chief representatives for their effective support for the Capital. 

In 2018 and the following year, Ha Noi will continue to build a capital of peace, green, civilization, and modernization. In addition, the city will continue to reform administrative procedures and better apparatus which is active, serves people and businesses, improve the business and investment environment; and raise the economy's competitiveness./.
