VGP – The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed four more COVID-19 cases, including two health workers, this afternoon, taking the country’s patient tally to 993.

Patient 990 is a 25-year old woman who is working as a staff of the Family Hospital in Da Nang.

She is being treated at the city’s Hoa Vang field hospital.

Patient 991 is a 34-year old man from Cam Thanh Commune, Hoi An city of Quang Nam Province.

His spouse had contracted the virus and became the 981th patient in Viet Nam.

He is being treated at the Quang Nam Regional Hospital.

Patient 992 is a 37-year old woman working at the Da Nang Hospital.

Patient 993 is a 40-year old woman from Tan Binh Ward, Hai Duong city.

She had been in close contact with patients 906 and 970 that are linked to the COVID-19 cluster in the city’s Ngo Quyen Street.

With these new cases, the number of domestic infections rose to 653, including 513 cases linked to the COVID-19 cluster in Da Nang.

Since the first community infection case was confirmed in Da Nang on July 25, several health workers have been infected with the virus, prompting the Ministry of Health to issue new regulations on how to prevent transmission at medical facilities.

Under these regulations, medical facilities must ensure enough health workers at departments of emergency, infectious and tropical diseases and extensive care units so that patients’ family members do not need to visit hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic time.

Social distancing must be seriously enforced at hospitals, departments, groups of healthcare workers while patients and people are requested to wear face marks and clean their hands./.
