VN commits to effective use of Japan’s ODA

VGP – Viet Nam attaches importance and commits to effective use of Japan’s official development assistance (ODA), a senior official confirmed.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on July 28 welcomed Chairman of the Japan - Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, Chairman of Lower House Budget Committee Toshihiro Nikai.

The NA Chairman noted the relations between the two countries have been flourishing, particularly since the two sides upgraded bilateral ties to extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.

The top Vietnamese legislator expressed his belief that the bilateral ties will be further expanded not only in economy but also in other areas such as culture, education and national defense.

He took the occasion to thank the Government and people of Japan for their assistance, especially official development assistance, for Viet Nam.

The host also highly valued the support of Japan for Viet Nam at international forums, hoping that legislators of both countries would further cooperate and exchange experience in a bid to enhance the strategic partnership

For his part, Mr. Toshihiro Nikai appraised the quality of Nhat Tan bridge project and other Japan-financed projects in Viet Nam, saying the success of these projects will help promote the two nations’ cooperation,

The two sides need to strengthen cooperation in accelerating the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks and preventing natural disasters, said Mr Toshihiro Nikai.

Regarding the East Sea issue, both the host and the guest agreed to foster cooperation to maintain a peaceful and stable environment in the region.

They also demonstrated their strong determination to defend national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity./.
