The PM urged the two sides to double efforts to raise the two-way trade volume to US$15 billion by 2020 and continue expanding defense cooperation and oil exploration in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

Both sides need to further strengthen air transport connectivity by facilitating airlines to soon open direct routes linking the two countries’ political and economic hubs.

The PM asked the two foreign ministries to quickly complete an action plan to realize the Viet Nam-India strategic partnership framework.

He suggested both countries should foster coordination at multi-lateral forums and spoke highly of the position and positive statements of India on the East Sea over the past time.

PM Phuc called on India to continue strong support for peace, stability, safety, security and freedom of aviation and navigation in the East Sea, for enforcement of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and for diplomatic and legal processes to settle disputes by peaceful means.
