VN attaches importance to ties with Republic of Korea

VGP – The Vietnamese Government attaches importance to further enhancing the strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea for development in both countries and for peace and coperation in the region and the world.

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh made the above statement during his meeting with Korean President Moon Jae-in on Thursday.

Deputy PM Minh also extended thanks to President Moon Jae-in for his attendance and positive countributions to the success of the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang last November.

President Moon Jae-in welcomed Deputy PM, FM Minh’s ongoing official visit to the Republic of Korea, which is taking place o the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The host President also congratulated Viet nam on successfully hosting the APEC Year, especially the Leaders’ Week, emphasizing that Korean people have special friendship and sentiments towards Viet Nam.

He affirmed that the Republic of Korea stands ready to support and cooperate with Viet Nam for the development of the Southeast Asian country.

* The same day, Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh also met with Korean PM Lee Nak-yeon.

The two leaders discussed orientations to strengthen political trust as well as cooperation in trade, investment, and technological transfer among other fields in order to further boost the bilateral ties.

Deputy PM, FM Minh suggested PM Lee Nak-yeon and the Korean Government take effective measures to raise the two-way trade volume to US$100 billion by 2020 in a balanced way and encourage Korean investors to participate in infrastructure development and restructuring of State-owned enterprises in Viet Nam./.
