VN among ten economies with highest rate of female entrepreneurs

VGP – Viet Nam ranks 7th among 54 Asian-Pacific economies having the highest rate of female entrepreneurs, according to the Index of Women Entrepreneurs 2017 Report released by MasterCard.

April 07, 2017 6:27 PM GMT+7

The country scored 31.4 percentage points in this component index compared to 30.9% of China and 30.7% of the US.

In terms of women’s advancement, knowledge assets, and supporting entrepreneurial conditions, Viet Nam scored 65 points to rank 19th, higher than expected index scores as it is a lower middle in-come country, the report says.

Women in countries like Bangladesh, Peru, Uganda and Viet Nam are engaged in entrepreneurship either out of necessity or opportunity to seek financial independence, fulfill business aspirations or simply because the local socio-cultural and economic conditions highly regard and accept it.

New Zealand still takes the lead with the overall index score of 74.4, followed by Canada (72.4) and the United States (69.9), the report shows./.
