"Clean up the World” campaign

Such practical and urgent event is annually held in the 3rd week of September, with a view to minimizing causes of climate change.

The campaign calls upon all people to join hands in environmental protection activities, improve the community’s awareness of environment, particularly waste recycling and management.

It is said that, following the launching ceremony, 1,400 workers, civil servants and laborers and 400 cyclists in Cần Thơ City will parade through streets, urging the big cut of pollutant emission.

Furthermore, there will be other activities, such as the movement “Planting 3 billion green trees for planet” initiated by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP); cleaning up the local environment.

Just one year after the “Clean up the World” was initially launched by UNEP in 1993, Việt Nam joined the movement and has always ranked among the most enthusiastic supporters.

So far, almost most of ministries and localities in Việt Nam have engaged in environmental protection activities.

The most frequent activities launched by Việt Nam include raising public awareness of environment protection, protecting the climate, reducing greenhouse gas, preserving forests and boosting up afforestation, saving fuels, encouraging the use of renewable energies like solar and wind power.
