Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyễn Phương Nga made the statement on March 12 in Hà Nội while responding to correspondents’ questions about the Report of the Human Rights Watch on human rights situation in Việt Nam.

According to the Spokesperson, Việt Nam pursues the consistent policy of respecting and ensuring human rights.

Over the past time, Việt Nam has recorded huge achievements in guaranteeing that all citizens enjoy equal political, economic, cultural and social rights, said Ms. Nga.

“Vietnamese people, the direct beneficiaries of the policy, are fully aware of their rights,” the Spokesperson stated, adding that the international community acknowledges and appreciates Việt Nam’s human right achievements.

Việt Nam stands ready to shake hands and have dialogues with other countries and international organizations, including the US, in an effort to reinforce mutual understanding of differences and the issue of human rights.
