VN, Thailand discuss ways to promote bilateral ties

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on December 20 met with Thai counterpart Prayut Chan-ocha on the sidelines of the 5th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

Expressing their pleasure at the fine development in the two nations’ strategic partnership, the two leaders agreed to launch effectively the agreements reached during PM Prayut Chan-ocha’s visit to Viet Nam in November 2014, including the organization of the 3rd joint cabinet meeting.

They reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and investment while promoting land and sea transport connectivity in order to accelerate cultural and tourism exchanges.

Both sides agreed to foster cooperation in handling violations by their fishermen on the basis of international law, the two countries’ advancing friendship as well as human spirit.

Thailand considers signing of an agreement on labor cooperation with Viet Nam, said PM Prayut Chan-ocha.

The two PMs also vowed to step up coordination at regional and international forums.

At the meeting, PM Dung highlighted the importance of cooperation in using Mekong River water resources in a sustainable and effective manner for the sake of the relevant countries and for cooperation and development in the region./.
