At the reception, Doris Leuthard said that Swiss firms are interested in doing business in Viet Nam and seeking investment opportunities in energy development.

She affirmed that Switzerland highly values ties with Viet Nam in all fields, highlighting cooperation potential between the two countries in the future, especially when progress has been seen in negotiations for the free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the EFTA.

In turn, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh has proposed that the Swiss Government continue paying attention to cooperation with Viet Nam in energy development, renewable and green energy as well as climate change response.

He said that a free trade agreement between Viet Nam and four members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) - Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein – will be signed soon.

Mr. Tuan said that he believes that the pact will create favourable conditions and open up new opportunities for cooperation between two countries.
