VN, Sudan want to solidify comprehensive ties

VNGOVNet – Mr. Nafie Ali Nafie Ahmed, assistant of the Sudanese President, paid a visit to Vietnam on March 25-28, 2007. He was accompanied by some senior officials in the Sudanese Government.

During his stay in Vietnam, Mr. Nafie Ali Nafie Ahmed, who is also the Vice President of Sudan’s National Congress Party, had talks with the Head of the Presidency Office and separately met State President Nguyễn Minh Triết and Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng. He also had working sessions with the Head of the Department of External Affairs of the Vietnamese Communist Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister of Fisheries, Minister of Industry, and leaders of PetroVietnam.

The Sudanese guests also visited some economic and cultural sites in Hanoi and other localities.

In the talks and meetings, the two sides informed each other the two countries’ situations, discussed orientations and solutions to speed up bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, gas and oil, and aquaculture. The Sudanese side highly hailed Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements as well as diplomatic policies of independence, diversified and multilateral relations, and proactive international integration.

The Assistant of the Sudanese President highly appreciated the outcomes of his visit, especially some important agreements with Vietnam’s ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry, Fisheries, and PetroVietnam in promoting the two countries’ cooperation in these sectors in the time to come.

The hosts confirmed their wish to develop a traditional relationship and multifaceted cooperation with Sudan. They pledged to collaborate with Sudan to make bilateral economic ties more fruitfully.

The two sides were convinced that the Vietnam-Sudan friendship and cooperation will advance to a new height through the two countries’ great efforts.
