Welcoming the Slovak Deputy PM’s official visit to Viet Nam, Deputy PM Hue expected that the visit will upgrade the 67-year- traditional relationship and multi-faceted cooperation to a higher level, meeting benefits and expectations of their people.

Slovakia attaches importance to the relations with Viet Nam, affirmed Mr. Peter Pellegrini.

The two sides applauded active developments in their relationship, especially the two-way trade turnover of US$671 million in the first nine months of 2017, a year-on-year surge of 92%.

They agreed to improve the effectiveness of the Vietnamese–Slovakian intergovernmental committee on economic cooperation and facilitate their businesses' cooperation, particularly in their advantageous areas.

The two leaders consented to promote cooperation in national defense-security, culture, tourism, education-training and science-technology.

Mr. Hue thanked the Slovak State and people for creating favorable conditions for Overseas Vietnamese to stabilize their lives in Slovakia, expecting that Overseas Vietnamese will uphold their bridging role in developing the two nations’ relations.

Deputy PM Peter Pellegrini asserted that Slovakia advocates to strengthen relationship between Viet Nam and the EU and the approval and signing of the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the two Deputy PMs stressed the need to address disputes with peaceful measures, including diplomatic and legal processes in line with the international regulations, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982.
