Ambassador Im Hong Jae of the RoK made the announcement when the Embassy introduced RoK’s economic realities and strategy as well as contributions made by RoK investors to Việt Nam’s social activities.

RoK’s corporations started showing their interest in Việt Nam’s market in 2002, marking “the second wave of investment in Việt Nam” after the Asian financial crisis in 1997.

Last year, the RoK took the lead in terms of investment projects in Việt Nam.

There remain 1,600 RoK enterprises operating in Việt Nam, carrying out 2,058 projects.

Apart from business activities, enterprises from the RoK have also involved in social activities, pouring a total aid of US $46.5 billion in 95 social projects.

It is reported that in 2008, the two-way trade turnover between Việt Nam and the RoK reached around US $10 billion.
