VN, Russia agree to join hands in new energy projects

VGP – Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Kozak asserted the two Governments’ agreement to encourage and create favorable conditions for their petroleum enterprises to take part in new projects, including ones in oil and gas production and electrification.

The two Deputy PMs made that statement during their talks on December 10 within the framework of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s official visit to the Russian Federation. 

During the talks, the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation to consolidate Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. 

The two sides spoke highly of the outstanding developments in economics, trade and investment, including the two-way trade value of US$4.5 billion in 2018 and US$3.77 billion over the recent 10 months of 2019. 

Both leaders were unanimous in tackling non-tariff barriers, facilitating the entry of their products in the respective markets, particularly agricultural, forestry and aquatic products to uphold the potential and advantages, including ones gained from the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement. 

The Vietnamese Government attaches importance to the cooperation in petrol and energy, said Hue while Dmitry Kozak affirmed that the Russian Government always supports the Russian firms to continue enhancing cooperation with Viet Nam.  

In addition, the host and the guest discussed bilateral cooperative situations in the fields of investment, finance and banking, welcoming the official undertaking of domestic payment transactions between the two countries from November, 2019.
