The agreement was reached on Tuesday in Ha Noi during talks between Vietnamese Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh and Kiwi Deputy PM and Finance Minister Bill English.

The two leaders were satisfied with the progress in the Viet Nam-New Zealand comprehensive partnership particularly in politics, security, national defense, economics, trade and investment cooperation.

The two sides agreed to put high-level agreements into reality, including the Viet Nam-New Zealand Plan of Action for the 2013-2016 period and the double taxation avoidance agreement.

Both sides reached a consensus on exchanges of senior delegations; push up linkages in security, national defense and other potential fields including agriculture, powder production and manufacturing, processing industry, energy, furniture, mining, law, tourism, labor and people-to-people exchange.

They affirmed close coordination in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2015.

Deputy PM Ninh said that Viet Nam always attaches importance to developing ties with the South Pacific countries including New Zealand and supports the New Zealand Inc Strategy for ASEAN.

He also highlighted Viet Nam’s determination to actively work with New Zealand and related countries to early finalize negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

New Zealand, said the guest leader, regards Viet Nam as one of her important partners in ASEAN and the Asian- Pacific Region and commits to stable ODA provision for the recipient country.

The two leaders also talked regional and international issues of common concern, agreeing further cooperation at United Nations forums,  the East Asia Summit (EAS), the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEAM), TPP, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)./.
