Accordingly, both sides will jointly organize the Vit Nam Culture Week in Laos and the same event in Vit Nam every two years on the occasions of their National Days. These large-scale events will consist of art performances, exhibitions and film showing.

The first Vit Nam Culture Week in Laos is scheduled for late August and early September to mark Vit Nam’s National Day (September 2) and the Year of Cultural Diplomacy 2009.

The two ministries pledged to continue facilitating their affiliated agencies to expand exchanges, experience sharing, training and cultural activities among border areas.

During 2007-2008, the MoCST sent experts and technicians to help Laos stage its national sports festival and assist the Lao National Library in designing legal documents on library.

Art schools and collages under the MoCST are training many Lao officials and students through a number of short and long-term courses.

The two ministries have also jointly participated in a project funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), to develop public library in Vit Nam and Laos.
