The agreement was reached at the Việt Nam-Laos joint border mission’s 6th round of expert-level talks concluded today in Vientiane, Laos.

The two sides reviewed the implementation of the 2009 plan for landmark planting.

So far, the two countries have identified 190 locations and planted 141 landmarks, which was behind the schedule due to unfavorable weather conditions in 2009.

The two sides were unanimous that they would focus on landmark planting in the first six months this year to keep off the rainy season.

The experts also discussed preparations for the next 19th annual conference on Việt Nam-Laos border issues scheduled to take place in Việt Nam in late February.
