VN, Laos to celebrate diplomatic tie establishing

VNGOP – Việt Nam and Laos schedule to exchange their Party and State delegations from July 16-20 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic tie establishing (September 5, 1962) and the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Việt Nam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Pact (July 18, 1977).

That Luang – Laos' national symbol

At the invitation of the General Secretary, State President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone, Mr. Trương Tấn Sang, Politburo member, Secretariat standing member of the Communist Party of Việt Nam will lead a delegation to visit Laos on July 16-20. During their stay in Laos, the delegates will pay courtesy visits to General Secretary, State President Choummaly Sayasone, PM Bouasone Bouphavanh, and National Assembly Chairman Thoongsin Thammavong.

During the same period, a high-ranking delegation of the Lao State headed by Vice President Bounnhang Vorachith will visit Việt Nam at the invitation of General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh and State President Nguyễn Minh Triết. The Lao Vice President will have a meeting with PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng; pay courtesy visits to General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết, and National Assembly Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

These visits aim to confirm consistent policies of the two countries in cementing and deepening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Communist Party of Việt Nam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party as well as between the two states; highlight the significance of the two historical events, especially the signing and realization of the Việt Nam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Agreement for the past three decades and the time to come.

On the anniversaries, a Vietnamese cultural week and a similar event will be organized concurrently in Laos and Việt Nam from July 15-21.

The "Vietnamese cultural week in Laos" includes performances to praise the solidarity and friendship between the two nations; an exhibition entitled “Vietnamese Space” in Vientiane with the mock-ups of a traditional Vietnamese village, the Pavilion of Literature Constellation – Việt Nam's symbol for studying fondness, and the Hà Nội Ancient Quarter; a photo exhibition introducing Việt Nam and the Việt Nam-Laos relationship; and a Vietnamese fashion show.

The "Lao cultural week in Việt Nam" consists of an exhibition of Lao fine arts and handicraft products and a photo exhibition on the Lao country and people. The event is scheduled to be organized in Vinh City in the central province of Nghệ An – the native land of President Hồ Chí Minh.

A special art performance to extol the Việt Nam-Laos relationship will be telecast live in the evening of July 17 from Vientiane and Hà Nội, attracting the participation of nearly 100 artists of the two countries.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Information plans to present the Lao National Library a reading-room of Vietnamese books.
