VN, Japan open economic forum in central coast city

VGP – The Việt Nam-Japan Economic Forum was jointly organized by the Đà Nẵng City People’s Committee and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in the central city of Đà Nẵng, focusing on two topics: investment environment in Central Việt Nam and the Việt Nam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA); and Japanese enterprises’ capability in receiving auxiliary products from Vietnamese partners.

Japanese Ambassador Mituso Sakba said that, on the basis medium and long-term prospects, Japanese investors will surely expand their operations in Đà Nẵng.

So far, nearly 40 enterprises have boost investment here. The region will become more attractive if transport infrastructure continued to be upgraded.

In recent years, the trade and investment relations between Việt Nam and Japan have continuously bloomed. In the first half, Japan spent US $94 million on 35 projects in Việt Nam.

Japan is running 1,113 investment projects with the total registered capital of US $17 billion, (10.7% of the total FDI in Việt Nam).

In Đà Nẵng alone, Japanese investors are carrying out 34 projects worth of US $178 million.

The Việt Nam-Japan Economic Forum is one of important parts of the "Japanese Festival 2009" and the Japanese Cultural Exchange Days in Việt Nam on August 14-16 which are going on in Đà Nẵng and Hội An.
