VN, Italy exchange judicial experience

VGP - A Vietnamese delegation from the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform led by deputy head Le Thi Thu Ba has visited Italy to inquire about the country’s judicial activities.

November 19, 2014 10:15 PM GMT+7
During the November 16-19 stay, Ba introduced the court system and the outcomes of judicial reform in Viet Nam, especially since the Politburo issued Resolution No 49 on judicial reform strategy until 2020, and the 2013 Constitution was adopted.

Many legal documents related to the organization and operations of judicial agencies will be considered and approved by the National Assembly in the coming time so as to concretise the new Constitution, she added.

Vice President of Italy’s Supreme Judiciary Council Giovanni Legnini hailed the judicial reform process of Viet Nam and the role of the Steering Committee for Judicial Reform in this process, as well as the humanity of the Viet Nam judicial system.

The judicial reform process is a thorny problem in which the judicial sector must ensure its independence while protecting people’s rights. However, with its experience and long-standing judicial system, Italy is ready to contribute to VietNam’s judicial reform process, he asserted.

The two sides also exchanged experience in amending laws such as the criminal and civil codes, as well as in personnel training.
