VN, India to boost ties in all fields

VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung on March 30 received the Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament of India Sumitra Mahajan, who is in Ha Noi to attend the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU-132).

Mr. Dung highly appreciated the participation of the Indian delegation and expressed his belief that it will contribute to the success of the assembly.
 
He stressed that the Party, the State and people of Viet Nam always remember the valuable support and assistance of India to Viet Nam during the years of struggle for national independence, unification, as well as the current national construction and defence.
 
Viet Nam is pleased to see its strategic partnership and comprehensive cooperation with India developing well, he said.
 
The Vietnamese Government wishes the Indian Parliament to support the two governments in implementing strong cooperation to achieve higher results in all fields, especially in economic, trade, investment, tourism.
 
The cooperation in science, engineering, education, defense and security; people exchange and cooperation in multilateral forums need to be boosted further in order to bring real benefits to the two peoples and match with good political relations, potential advantages and expectations of the two countries.
 
He also congratulated the great achievements of India in the last time which has helped boost India’s position in the region and the world. He said the Vietnamese government supports the strengthening of ties between Vietnamese and Indian legislatures.
 
He asked the Indian guest to convey his invitation to visit Viet Nam to Indian PM Narendra Modi.
 
Speaking at the meeting, Indian Lower House Speaker Sumitra Mahajan expressed admiration of the people of India for the bravery of Vietnamese people in the struggle for national independence, and reunification.
 
She also expressed admiration for the achievements of Viet Nam after 30 years of innovation, open-door, and integration and praised Viet Nam’s preparation and organization of IPU-132.
 
She said bilateral ties between the two countries have much accelerated following visits of high-ranking officials from both countries.
 
She affirmed that the Indian Lower House always gives the highest support to Viet Nam as well as the Viet Nam-India relations. She added that together with the strong development of the two economies, Viet Nam and India are able to work together in a variety of areas without obstacles.
 
The upcoming Viet Nam visit by the Indian Speaker of the Parliament and the Defence Minister and the launch of direct flight services will mark a new milestone in the bilateral relationship, she said./.
