Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng asserted that Việt Nam always attaches importance to information technology (IT) because the country is speeding up its industrialization and modernization. He confirmed that the Government will provide most favorable conditions for the world's IT groups to do business in Việt Nam, adding that many among these groups have succeeded in the country, including Intel and Microsoft.

IDG Chairman Patrick McGovern praised Việt Nam a potential market for IT cooperation and investment. He said that Vietnamese students were dynamic and intelligent but have few chances to access to advanced IT reference and textbooks as well as technical facilities. This is a big challenge for Việt Nam in IT training and application.

The IDG founder affirmed that Việt Nam is always prioritized in IDG's development strategy. IDG has allocated a US$ 100 million fund to invest in Vietnamese software companies and plans to raise the fund to US$ 1 billion by 2010, the guest said.

Mr. Patrick McGovern also asked the Vietnamese Government to set up more favorable policies and conditions for his group to cooperate with some Vietnamese universities in training IT human resource and publishing Vietnamese versions of IDG's IT textbooks.
