VN, France regard economic cooperation as key pillar of bilateral ties

VGP – Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung is leading a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on a working visit to France from November 27-28.

The Deputy PM is accompanied by leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Office of the Government, and local leaders of Ha Noi, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, and Bac Kan provinces.

During the visit, Deputy PM Dung met with French Environment Minister François de Rugy, Director of the French Development Agency Rémy Rioux, Senate’s Vice President Philippe Dallier and some French CEOs.

Especially, the Deputy PM also had a working session with the Office of the French PM to discuss preparations for the upcoming overseas tour of French PM Edouard Philippe to Viet Nam.

During these meetings, both sides stressed that the Viet Nam-French Strategic Partnership have vigorously flourished over the past years; specially, in 2018, the two countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 5th anniversary of strategic partnership establishment.

Besides the official visit of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to France last March, the upcoming visit of French PM Edouard Philippe would help consolidate trust and boost cooperation at high level between the two countries. The two countries expect to reach a range of agreements in healthcare and telecom.

In the coming time, Deputy PM Dung and French leaders would utilize existing mechanisms to share information and promote cooperation in all fields.

They also regarded economic cooperation as a pillar of priority in the Viet Nam-France Strategic Partnership and agreed to facilitate business operation in such areas as healthcare, agriculture, and airline.

Deputy PM Dung suggested the Government and Senate of France advocate early signing and ratification of the Free Trade Agreement and the Investment Protection Agreement between Viet Nam and the European Union.

He also welcomed France to have stronger voices for peaceful settlement of disputes in the East Sea/./
