Deputy PM Hai made the remarks during his meeting in Ha Noi on July 22 with Fleur Pellerin, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, under French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He suggested that France should work closely with Vietnamese partners to implement effectively cooperative projects in Viet Nam, create favorable conditions for French investors to take part in the fields encouraged by Viet Nam, including new energy development, renewable energy, support, hi-tech and green industry.

France should flexibly expand its ODA provision forms to Viet Nam, particularly the public-private models; support and boost negotiations on the Viet Nam – EU Free Trade Agreement so as it could be  concluded by the end of this year while quickening the EU’s recognition of Viet Nam’s market economy, Hai added.

Pellerin expressed her pleasure with fine developments in bilateral relations in politics, culture and economics, especially after PM Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to France.

She supported and spoke highly of Viet Nam’s stance and solutions to China’s illegal placement of Haiyang Shiyou-981 oil rig in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, saying that France wanted the issue in the East Sea to be addressed peacefully in accordance with international law.

After briefing Deputy PM Hai about her visit’s outcomes, Pellerin expressed her hope that the Vietnamese Government would continue to support and have possible favorable policies for French businesses to run long-term business in the country.

She said that her entourage included many representatives from leading businesses and groups who wanted to seek trade and investment opportunities in banking, construction, power, gas and ODA provision.
