VN, China trade fair kicks off in Lào Cai
VNGOP - The Việt Nam-China International Trade Fair 2007 opened in the northern border province of Lào Cai on November 30 with more than 400 booths of businesses from both countries.
A series of activities, including the signing of economic contracts between Vietnamese and Chinese firms, an international seminar on the development of the Kunming (China)-Lào Cai-Hải Phòng economic corridor, and a forum on economic cooperation, will be held on the sidelines of the six-day event.
Two-way trade was US $10.4 billion in 2006 and is expected to reach US $13-14 billion this year, of which US $770 million worth of products traded through the Lào Cai border gate.
Việt Nam and China have set a target of US $15 billion in two-way trade value by 2010, including US $1 billion from trading via Lào Cai’s border gate.
