Participants in the event included representatives from the two sides’ agencies and leaders from 10 provinces sharing border lines with Cambodia including Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang and Kien Giang.

Speaking at the event, Minister Long said that 10 years ago, the two ministries signed the Memorandum of Understanding on legal and judicial cooperation, creating a crucial legal framework to launch the bilateral cooperative activities.

Since then, the two sides have joined hands in delegation exchanges and experience sharing in justice and realizing the agreement on mutual legal assistance on civil matters and an extradition agreement.

The justice conference of Viet Nam-Cambodia border provinces is held every two years, aiming to seek measures to boost law and justice cooperation between localities sharing border lines and share experiences in realizing justice works as well as enhance friendship ties between the two nations’ justice agencies.

Long expressed his hope that outcomes of the conference will continue creating forces for friendship and cooperation ties between the two justice agencies and two nations, making contributions to the prosperous, peaceful and sustainable development of border provinces and meeting the prospects of their people, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

For his part, Ang Vong Vathana expected that the conference will make progress in the two nations’ justice cooperation, aiming to boost mutual support in civil, criminal and education works.
