The two leaders held talks on November 26 during the Party Chief's official visit to Belarus.

The Belarusian President welcomed the official visit of the General Secretary and the Vietnamese delegation, saying the visit will create a crucial force to enhance the relations.

Viet Nam attaches importance to the multi-faceted relationship with Belarus as well as expecting to promote the economic and trade relations for the sake of the two sides.

They discussed measures to strengthen the all-round relationship in the future and issues of international and regional concerns.

They agreed to increase high-level visits and contacts at all levels of the party, parliament, government, and social organization, and people-to-people exchanges as well as sharing experience in management and leadership.

As a member of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, Belarus commits to accelerating the negotiations for the early signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Viet Nam and the Union, said the President.

Belarus will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese goods to penetrate into its market, especially agricultural products, seafood, woodwork, garments and coffee, he added.

They were unanimous in facilitating the two sides’ businesses to seek further cooperation, especially in the fields of information and telecommunication.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Lukashenko spoke highly of the effective defense cooperation between the two countries over the past time. Belarus pledged to continue providing training for Vietnamese military officers and expanding training programs in Viet Nam.

The two leaders consented to enhance cooperation in education-training, culture, sports and tourism, and terrorism and trans-national crime combat, implement effectively the inter-governmental agreements and continue to expand cooperation in labor and vocational training.

They also highly valued the close cooperation between the two countries in the framework of the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement as well as at international forums and organizations.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the two leaders expressed their concern over recent complicated developments in the sea, expecting parties concerned will solve their disputes by peaceful measures based on international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and early establish a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC), to ensure peace, security, safety and freedom in the East Sea.
