The Government chief announced the news during his meeting with Vietnamese diplomats and community in Australia on Wednesday.

The two countries set up diplomatic relations on February 26, 1973 and elevated the relationship to Comprehensive Partnership in 2009 and to Enhanced Comprehensive Partnership in 2015.

The two-way trade value reached nearly US$7 billion last year, official statistics show.

PM Phuc also briefed about recent developments in Viet Nam, especially the economy expanded at 7.4% in the first quarter of 2018 compared to just 5.15% of the same period last year.

Vietnamese Ambassador in Australia Ngo Huong Nam said there are about 350,000 Vietnamese people residing in Australia and around 30,000 Vietnamese students are studying in the Oceania country./.
