VN Airlines to ban passengers hiding COVID-19 truth

The national flag carrier has warned passengers that those who test positive for Covid-19 but do not declare it truthfully could be banned from flying on Viet Nam Airlines permanently.

Passengers taking Viet Nam Airlines flights are asked to wear face masks before and during the flight. The carrier will turn down check-in for those who do not have a face mask.

The warning is a precautionary measure to encourage honest declarations and to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus, the airline said.

It said that in case a passenger is found deliberately lying or hiding his or her health status vis a vis the Covid-19 infection or its symptoms, the airline will report such instances to the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) and execute a permanent flying ban.

The warning is aimed to encourage passengers to report their health condition truthfully to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

Of the total infection cases in Viet Nam, 16 had been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospitals while all the rest have been confirmed since March 6.

The current patients include 18 foreign nationals from the UK, Germany, France, Ireland, Latvia, the Czech Republic./.
