The ceremony was jointly organized by Cat Tuong agricultural processing company, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Tien Giang Province’s People’s Committee.

The U.S. was the second largest fruits and vegetables importer of Viet Nam with US$84.5 million in 2016, up 44.2% against in 2015.

In the first 11 months of 2017, Viet Nam gained US$92.6 million from exporting fruits and vegetables to the U.S., a year-on-year increase of 21.3%.

Star apple fruits have become the Viet Nam’s fifth fruit exported to the U.S. after dragon fruits, longan, rambutan and litchi. Mango is expected to join the rank after necessary procedures are completed.

The event creates more export opportunities for star apple fruits in particular and Viet Nam’s other fruits in general as well as marks the nation’s capacity to ensure the production at Global GAP standard and disease control.

According to the Viet Nam Customs, as of December 15, Viet Nam’s total fruits and vegetables exports reached US$3.345 billion, a year-on-year increase of 45% and it exceeded the figure of 2016 (US$2.457 billion).
