Use of geographical indications for Vietnamese products overseas defined

VGP - The Government has issued Resolution No. 91 / NQ-CP on licensing the use of geographical indications for Vietnamese products and services overseas.

The Government has assigned the Ministry of Science and Technology to license the use of the words ‘Viet’ or ‘Viet Nam’ for the certification and collective trademark registration of Vietnamese products and services overseas.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is allowed to register for recognizing Vietnamese rice abroad.

The Ministry of Science and Technology adjusts and supplements the regulations on the use of the national name, including the full name, short name and suitable words in English and other marks for registering the geographical indication and trademarks of products and services.
