At a recent meeting between the Embassy and Erika Elvander - Director of Asia/Pacific Office under the US Department of Health and Human Services and Mitch Wolfe - Chief medical officer at the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the US officials also highly valued Viet Nam’s close and effective cooperation in sharing information and experience in combatting the epidemic.

Elvander praised Viet Nam, as the current ASEAN Chair, for its initiative on regional cooperation in response to the COVID-19 epidemic, pledging to foster cooperation with ASEAN and the World Health Organization, especially in pushing back the epidemic.

Meanwhile, the CDC said it plans to send a delegation to Viet Nam in March this year to discuss cooperation and establishment of its regional office in Viet Nam.

The US agencies, including CDC International Reagent Resource stand ready to share COVID-19 research outcomes, exchange experts and provide test tools for Viet Nam to enhance its disease prevention capacity.
