U.S. President sends sympathy over death of State President Quang

VGP – The White House on September 21 released a Statement from President Donald Trump on the passing of State President Tran Dai Quang.

In the statement, the U.S. President wrote that: “It was with sadness that I learned of the passing of President Tran Dai Quang. On behalf of the American people, I express my condolences to his family and the people of Viet Nam.

President Quang was a great friend of the United States. He graciously hosted me during my historic state visit to Ha Noi in November 2017, and I am grateful for his personal commitment to deepening the United States-Viet Nam Comprehensive Partnership. We will not soon forget his contributions to peace, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region or his voice for Viet Nam as a proud and independent nation on the world stage”.

*The same day, a statement was issued by Heather Nauert, Spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State over the passing of the Vietnamese State leader.

“We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of President Tran Dai Quang of Viet Nam.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to President Quang’s family and the people of Viet Nam during this difficult time.

President Quang was a strong supporter of the U.S.-Viet Nam relationship, helping advance our bilateral partnership to new heights on the basis of mutual respect, shared interests, and a common desire to promote peace, cooperation, prosperity, and security in the Indo-Pacific region.

We honor his legacy and mourn his loss alongside his family and our friends, the people of Viet Nam”, the statement says.

*Also the same day, the U.S. Ambassador extended a statement on the passing of President Tran Dai Quang, writing that:

“On behalf of the U.S. Mission in Viet Nam, I would like to express our sincere condolences on the passing of President Tran Dai Quang.  Our sympathies go out to his family and the people of Viet Nam at this sad time. 

President Tran Dai Quang was a friend of the U.S.-Viet Nam relationship.  His hosting of President Donald J. Trump’s historic state visit to Ha Noi in November 2017 helped advance the U.S.-Viet Nam Comprehensive Partnership to new heights on the basis of mutual understanding, shared interests, and a common desire to promote peace, cooperation, prosperity, and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
