Out of the US $165 million investment for the Poverty Reduction in Northern Mountainous Areas Project (stage 2), the WB will lend US $150 million.

The Government chief entrusted the Governor of the State Bank of Việt Nam to ink these documents with the WB.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in collaboration with relevant agencies and People’s Committees of concerned provinces will early conduct the project.

The project will be implemented in six northern mountainous provinces of Lào Cai, Yên Bái, Hòa Bình, Sơn La, Điện Biên and Lai Châu.

In the first stage of the Project, 68,000 households living in Phú Thọ, Lào Cai, Yên Bái, Sơn La, Hoà Bình, and Bắc Giang, were direct beneficiaries. The project also helped to better socio-economic infrastructure for agricultural productivity and local employment.
